Marylène, Sanfor machine operator.
Before coming to TDV Industries I worked for 27 years as a secretary in a printing business in Paris. The ups and downs of life made me come back to Laval where I was born, and where I had to start again. It was through people I knew that I heard that TDV Industries was recruiting; so I put myself forward, even though I didn’t know anything about textiles. Once I’d been recruited, I was given training and help with settling in; it certainly was hard at times in the early days because it was nothing like my previous job, but little by little I learned the necessary skills and today I can run my Sanfor line by myself.
My job consists in controlling the Sanfor so as to tighten the weft threads so that when the fabrics leave the production unit they’re the right size (150-151cm) and check that draw-in is stable. What I like about my job is that I don’t see the time pass. No day is like any other and what’s nice about working with a material like cloth is that it never seems to behave the same way twice!
